What to do in Trégastel: 12 ideas on the Pink Granite Coast
Trégastel is the most family-friendly town on the Pink Granite Coast: sandy beaches sheltered between the rocks, a spectacular coastal path, and almost everything within walking distance. Here are our ideas, from the most obvious to the least known, tried and tested from L’Anse Roz.
By the water
1. The Renote peninsula
You can walk right round the peninsula in under an hour, through jumbles of pink granite boulders and white sandy coves. It’s the must-do walk in Trégastel. See our guide to the Renote peninsula.
2. The beaches
Trégastel has around a dozen sandy beaches. Coz-Pors and Grève Blanche are lifeguarded in July and August, Toul Drez is the quietest, and Tourony has the best view. See our guide to the beaches of Trégastel.

3. Costaérès Castle
Perched on its own islet opposite Tourony beach, this late-19th-century pink granite castle isn’t open to visitors, but it can be seen from almost everywhere, including the terrace at L’Anse Roz. See its history.
4. Sunset over the rocks
In the last hour of daylight, the granite takes on its most vivid colour. The rocks at Coz-Pors and on the Renote peninsula are the best vantage points.

5. Kayaking and paddleboarding
The coast looks completely different from the sea: coves you can’t reach on foot, islets, and the occasional seal. Hire outlets are based in Trégastel and Ploumanac’h.
6. Rockpooling
At low tide, the rocks at Coz-Pors and Grève Blanche reveal pools full of crabs and shrimps. Stick to the minimum sizes and put the rocks back where you found them.

7. The coastal path to Ploumanac’h
From Trégastel, the GR34 leads to Ploumanac’h and its Mean Ruz lighthouse, running alongside Tourony beach. Allow half a day there and back, no car needed. To find out more, read the guide to the GR34 on the Pink Granite Coast.
8. The village centre
Park the car when you arrive and you won’t need it again: the bakery, shops, restaurants and seafront are all just a few steps from L’Anse Roz.
With the family, or on a rainy day
9. The marine aquarium
Set beneath a jumble of granite boulders, just steps from Coz-Pors beach, it showcases the local marine wildlife. See our article on the aquarium.
10. The Planetarium and the Cité des Télécoms
At the Parc du Radôme in Pleumeur-Bodou, just a few minutes’ drive away: ideal for a rainy half-day.
A little further afield
11. The Sept-Îles archipelago
Boats leave from Trestraou beach in Perros-Guirec, a quarter of an hour’s drive away, generally from April to September. See our article on the Sept-Îles.
12. Île Grande and the Saint-Uzec menhir
In Pleumeur-Bodou, Île Grande, linked to the mainland by a bridge, has a wilder stretch of coastline. On the way, the Saint-Uzec menhir, topped with a cross and carved with Christian symbols, is one of the most striking in the region.
